(TROY, MO) – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains found on Monday in a field in Lincoln County.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on April 24, Deputies responded to the area of Old Hwy 79, near Hwy M in Elsberry. An area farmer reported he found possible human skeletal remains in a field.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene when Deputies located the remains and believed they were likely human. Crime scene technicians processed the scene and recovered the remains for analysis. The preliminary investigation indicates the remains are likely those of an older white male and not connected to any missing persons cases in Lincoln County.
