Multi-Agency Law Enforcement Operation Concludes

sex offender registry

MEDIA RELEASE
From November 28-30, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, along with the United States Marshal’s Service, the Troy Police Department and the Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office conducted a sex offender compliance check operation. This operation consisted of law enforcement checking on sex offenders within Lincoln County, Missouri to ensure that these persons are complying with Missouri law and properly and accurately registering.

These types of operations allow law enforcement to educate offenders on their registration requirements and to locate and arrest offenders who are not properly registered. This enables law enforcement to better protect the community and our children. During this operation a total of 195 offenders were contacted, and seven were arrested for failure to register as a sex offender.

Officers also arrested six persons for various other crimes to include possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm as a felon and possession of child sexual abuse material.

All incidents will be forwarded to the Lincoln County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and our law enforcement partners will continue to conduct these types of operations to ensure all offenders are complying with Missouri law and to protect the citizens and children of Lincoln County.
